It’s a rather fine line between tongue and cheek and high fashion isn’t it?
Totally… there were a lot of gasps from the audience!
Is that because of the fur?
Great article Rachael. I think sometimes you have to shock people to initiate a flow of consciousness about something. Otherwise it is only a dull tugging on their morality. Do you think maybe that’s what Merve was trying to do? You know how Guillermo Habacuc Varg tied up that stray dog and everyone called him an animal abuser? His point was to say that when people saw strays on the street they did nothing and would walk past the animals with no thought but all of a sudden they cared for this dog because it was thrust in their faces and they had to consider it’s well-being.
I agree. It’s a great article!
I thought that’s maybe what the designer was doing– using the catwalk as a stage to take a somewhat acceptable practice of wearing fur to the absolute extreme to show it’s reality.
It’s done in a really intellectual way, if that’s what the designer is doing, because it’s not immediately obvious what the intentions are. It’s got people talking though!
“Hey, hey you want to wear fur? why not an ENTIRE fox?”…. “But it’s looking at me…”
lol
